Dear Delegates, Presenters, Participants and Guests,

My team and I warmly welcome everyone to the 71st International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine (ICASM). We have an exciting line up of presentations and panels for the scientific programme, and also a host of social activities as part of the congress to set the stage for a truly memorable time in Singapore. Do check out the conference website for all the latest information.

Accommodation

The hotel rooms at One Farrer Hotel reserved for congress delegates have been fully taken up. For those who have not booked your accommodation, you can still secure your accommodation at One Farrer Hotel through raysontong@onefarrer.com or reservations@onefarrer.com. Should the hotel be fully booked out, you can check into several other hotels within 200m of One Farrer Hotel, including Holiday Inn Little India and CALI Novotel on Kitchener. There are lots of accommodation options to cater to every budget and preference.

Collection of Conference Pass

On-site collection of conference pass can be done on 27th October (1st day of the congress) from 0730H onwards. For those who wish to collect your pass earlier, you can do so on 26th October from 0900H to 1700H (one day before the congress starts). The conference center is located on the 6th floor of One Farrer Hotel.

Technical Visits

We have 4 exciting technical visits on 30th October which every congress delegate should have had the opportunity to choose from upon registration. Slots were made available on a first come first serve basis, and I hope you were able to choose one that interested you. These technical visits provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a facet of the Singapore’s aviation ecosystem which would not be possible outside the congress. As security clearance is required for several of these visit sites, do understand that you will need to provide your passport photo and details to secretariat@icasm2025.com. We seek your kind cooperation as our Secretariat reaches out to you.

Social Events

If you have registered for the full congress, you would be able to attend the Congress Reception as well as the Congress Gala Dinner, together with your registered accompanying person (if any). There will be live performances in addition to an excellent spread of food and drinks for these events. For those who have only signed up for single day admissions, do consider “upgrading” it to full congress participation to maximise your benefits. These social events are important in providing excellent opportunities for deeper interaction and conversations with one another, and for us to celebrate together as one Aviation and Space Medicine family. Details of these social events can be found here. For the Congress Gala Dinner, please update on your meal choice if you have not already done so. For these and more, do reach out to our secretariat@icasm2025.com if you require further assistance.

Accompanying Person

Registered accompanying persons (ie. spouse or partner) will be able to attend the technical visits and social events, alongside registered delegates. Do note that accompanying persons will not be able to attend the conference sessions, and they will need to be registered as a delegate to do so. Instead, accompanying persons can attend any of the visits arranged for them as shown in the Accompanying Persons Programme. Do ensure that accompanying persons have indicated interest for these activities for ease of coordination. Also, do ensure that accompanying persons have selected their meal choices for the Gala Dinner.

Visiting Singapore

For overseas delegates, we welcome you to explore Singapore. Whether it is your first time or one of many times here in Singapore, there is always something in store for you!

First, the conference hotel is located in the cultural district of Little India and you will be able to see the dazzling street lights and feel the vibrancy as the Indian community in Singapore celebrates the Deepavali festival in October. Feel free to walk the streets and soak in the atmosphere in the evening after the congress as this atmosphere happens only once every year in Little India.

Second, you can visit some or all of the many well-known attractions in Singapore: the Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Mandai Wildlife Reserve (which consists of a total of 5 wildlife parks), Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium, the Botanic Gardens, the many museums in Singapore, and lots more. For those who have seen them all, there are many other activities round the year depending on your interest - be it exploring wildlife or one of the many cultures in Singapore. Singapore boasts a world class public transport system (trains and buses), and you may consider getting a Tourist Pass if you wish for unlimited use of public transport. If not, ride-hailing and taxi services are easily available via the various Apps, and cashless / digital payments are the norm in most parts of the island.

Third, alongside the rich cultural diversity are numerous cuisines and food options to choose from – from street food and hawker centres to high-end and Michelin starred restaurants. As eating is a favorite Singaporean past time, the food choices are endless! One Farrer Hotel boasts exquisite restaurants, and the surrounding area is packed with restaurants featuring a myriad of cuisines from around the world. For those who wish to try something truly local, you may consider eating at the nearby hawker centres (Tekka Food Centre or Berseh Food Centre) or head down to Lau Pa Sat via the train. For those who wish to celebrate the special occasion or experience fine dining in Singapore, you may wish to choose restaurants in Downtown Singapore or any of the charming restaurant enclaves (eg. Dempsey Hill).

Last, for those who require visa to enter Singapore, please remember to process them in advance. For all incoming guests, do remember to fill up the arrival card before you enter Singapore. You may wish to get a data plan at the Changi Airport through any of the kiosks on arrival and grab a taxi or private car hire at the Changi Airport to the hotel.

We look forward to having everyone at ICASM 2025 in Singapore!
